BOROUGH
GREEN PARISH COUNCIL
Borough
Green and St Mary Platt Bypass
Revised
Position Statement, as adopted 01 June 2009
Borough
Green Parish Council welcomes and actively encourages the proper provision of
means to make a full and permanent reduction in traffic volume and speed through
the village of Borough Green (and neighbouring villages) along the A25 and A227.
As
an indication of its own commitment, The Parish Council:
1.
Continues to support the construction of a Borough Green and St Mary Platt Bypass
provided that:
a) It is achieved with public funding, contrary to the position
of the Kent and Medway Structure Plan 2006, Policy TP8.
b) It follows the
safeguarded line and outline design of the Borough Green and St Mary Platt Bypass
as defined in previous planning proposals by KCC.
2.
Supports the provision of east facing slip-roads at Junction 5 of the M25, as
defined in the Kent and Medway Structure Plan 2006, Policy TP6.
3.
Supports the downgrading of the A25 from its current status of Primary Trunk Route
along with any subsequent traffic restriction and calming measures that this will
allow.
4.
Supports the downgrading of the A227 to B road status through the village of Borough
Green, along with any subsequent traffic restriction and calming measures that
this will allow.
